According to data from the Washington-based National UFO Reporting Center, or NUFORC, New York City has reported 85 UFO sightings over the last two years. Of all the city's boroughs, Manhattan reported the most—27 sightings since 2016, running the gamut from brief, anonymous submissions to detailed accounts. "Do I believe in UFOs? I absolutely believe...I believe what the data says," NUFORC Director Peter Davenport told the New York Post. Akdeniz University in Antalya, Turkey, is offering a course for called “Ufology and Exopolitics” which focuses on unidentified flying objects (UFO) and life forms on other planets, aside the alleged secret connection between aliens and the US government. So Erhan Kolbashi, who is the deputy chairman of Istanbul-based Sirius UFO Space Sciences Research Center and the tutor for the course will prepare his students for a proper welcome to visitors from space. "My personal belief is that there is very compelling evidence that we may not be alone," Luis Elizondo said in an interview on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront." Elizondo told The New York Times he resigned from the Department of Defense in October in protest over what he called excessive secrecy surrounding the program and internal opposition to it after funding for the effort ended in 2012. Elizondo said Monday that he could not speak on behalf of the government, but he strongly implied there was evidence that stopped him from ruling out the possibility that alien aircraft visited Earth. SATELLITE RE-ENTRY: The ROSAT X-ray observatory, launched in 1990 by NASA and managed for years by the German Aerospace Center (DLR), will return to Earth within the next two weeks.  Current best estimates place the re-entry between Oct. 22nd and 24th over an unknown part of Earth.  Although ROSAT is smaller and less massive than UARS , which grabbed headlines when it re-entered on Sept. 24th, more of ROSAT could reach the planet's surface. This is because the observatory is made of heat-tolerant materials. According to a DLR study, as many as 30 individual pieces could survive the fires of re-entry. The largest single fragment would likely be the telescope's mirror, which is very heat resistant and may weigh as much as 1.7 tons. ROSAT is coming, but it's not here yet.
